Designing Metacognitive Scaffolds for Human–Conversational GenAI Interaction

Conversational Generative AI is increasingly used to support complex engineering tasks, including systems engineering.
However, its adoption raises critical questions: how do we design interactions that allow humans to stay in control of their thinking, strategies, and decisions?

This webinar explores the metacognitive challenges of working with Conversational GenAI and presents ongoing research on how metacognitive scaffolding can support safer, more effective human–AI interaction.
From experimental observation to heuristic evaluation, the talk offers design-oriented insights for integrating GenAI into engineering practice.
